In old Bombay (May 24, 2008 – PM)

2008/05/28

Mumbai AudianceIn Mumbai, on the urging of Prof Venugopal Iyengar – who provided a lovely drive from Pune to Mumbai – the CC presentation was unfortunately too short. With this audience we could have been talking late into the night about the potential and benefits of CC. Again, very lively participant full a questions and well thought-out observations.

Evangelizing the Common Criteria Scheme (May 23, 2008)

2008/05/28

BangaloreI recently have been traveling arond India evangelizing the Common Criteria Scheme (ISO 15408). This is a country thirsty for knowledge – all my colloquiums where lively with interesting and intelligent questions about CC, especially how CC benefits end-users. My presentation covered aspects related to end-users (advantages of procuring CC certified ICT products), project managers (benefits of considering developing CC compliant ICT products), and consultants (the potential to assist developers with their Security Target writing and consulting to end-users in selecting the right Protection Profile or CC certified ICT product).

During my stay in Bangalore, Pune, and Mumbai, I had the privilege to present to these cities respective ISACA Chapters. All without exception left a great impression regarding the potential of all aspect of CC in India.

ISO 28000 (Supply Chain Security)

2008/05/28

I was in Bangkok, Thailand recently promoting ISO 28000 (Supply Chain Security) to the Pharmaceutical Industry. The concept was received with interests, but at the same time much caution, since the ISO is viewed, wrongfully, as a standard for shipping ports.

I explained that 28000 really addresses just about any supply chain, especially the generally long and complex supply chain in the Pharma industry – with much needs for security and traceability, especially the later. Well at least the Pharma world is willing to listen – that is a good sign toward assuring SCS that will not only benefit the industry, but its marketplace.
